I have very limited information but wonder of the connection to my paternal family. I have never had contact with any of them and probably never will especially due to ages of people. I was born of James Leo Baker in 1958. He and my mother were married but divorced in 1961. It was understood that he died about 1961 from a massive heart attack, he was very roughly 46 years old. It is reflected on my birth certificate his name and South Dakota. Mother states that he always said his mother was full blooded Blackfeet and had and would always live as a Blackfeet Indian. Mother did not know their names but said I had half siblings and grandparents in the Blackfeet Nation. I wonder of any records that may link this together. I have nothing else to go on but have been told several times in my life that I favor the look of Native Americans and even recently was approached by a woman who stated "you have the Native American look of a Plains Indian" that started me once again thinking about what my connection could be. Thank you for your time and assistance if you have any info I would appreciate the connection. | | | | | |

I have very limited contact with my father, but his name in Raymond Edward Chaney, and he tells us that he is 1/4 Blackfoot. I have tried repeatedly to contact him and other family members to get more information in researching our family tree, with little response. He did tell us that his grandfather (I believe) was sent to a reservation in Oklahoma, wanted to 'live as a white man', then CHANGED HIS NAME to CHANEY, and move off the res. So it's very difficult because at this point I have no idea what his REAL last name was. I would appreciate ANY information anyone may have - even such as, what reservation was this? (I have read that other Blackfeet were also on this reservation, but I cannot figure out what it's name was from the information I have found online.)
I have a huge geneology of my mom's side of the family, and literally NOTHING on my father's side, so any information would be helpful. (My father lives in Washington and I hear his sister - Irene, I think - lives in Idaho - but I don't know what town).
Also, IS THERE A WAY TO SEARCH THIS FORUM?
Thank you in advance for anything anyone can offer!
